Ensuring Proper Temperature With Home Heating Oil
Posted by tony in Other related posts on July 19th, 2010
It’s well known that you can visit many houses and find that the heating is turned up so high that the occupants are dressed like they are visiting the beach. Not only is this highly unnecessary, it is also like throwing money into the bin. Lowering the thermostat a few degrees will mean feeling comfortable wearing another couple of layers of clothing and you will save on heating oil as well. There shouldn’t be any discomfort by doing this because we British are not really attuned with wearing beach clothes in the middle of the winter.
Some other houses have their heating systems turned on at the most ridiculous of times. They are safely tucked up in bed and would rather spend the night sweating uncomfortably then turning the heating off or down. Some people will even be using the heating oil when there is nobody at home; what are they afraid that the house ghost will get cold? Many people like to walk into a warm house, and there is nothing wrong with that, but there is no need to keep it on all day long while they are out. Get the temperature right and save on your heating oil consumption; change your heating habits to get it right.
Heating ones home in the cold months of winter can cost a fair packet. Electricity and gas prices are very high and show no signs of coming down any time soon. Clever people are switching to heating oil as a fuel though. Oil suppliers are prevalent throughout the UK, and will supply, for instance, Colney Hatch heating oil.
How Can You Prevent Your Heating Oil Tank From Corroding
Posted by tony in Other related posts on July 5th, 2010
If you use heating oil you may be at risk of oil tank corrosion. You could find that you could face a whole host of problems if your heating oil tank starts to wear away gradually. Anything that is exposed to the elements is always going to be in danger of corrosion. The majority of people will have their heating oil tanks in the open and so it should come as no surprise that corrosion will occur. Corrosion does not happen suddenly but rather over a long period of time.
Heating oil tanks are very prone to rust and this is one of the major concerns for anyone who has a tank on their property. This nasty type of corrosion happens due to water condensation which occurs when there is a variation in temperature between the tank and the outside. When the water begins to build up inside the tank it causes rust to appear inside it. If this rust builds up over a number of years it could mean that you will no longer be able to use your heating oil tank. In some instances this rust could compromise the integrity of the oil tank and you could end up with a leak.
The best way to avoid rust in your oil tank is by not allowing moisture to accumulate through condensation. The best way to do this is to make sure that you regularly top up your oil tank. If you don’t leave any space in the tank then the moisture will have nowhere to build up. Obviously you cannot keep your tank full of oil all the time but you should make sure that you do get regular top ups. You can avoid these problems by making sure that you don’t leave your tank empty for long periods of time.
Anyone who uses heating oil should really be trying to ensure that their tank has as long a life as possible.
Heating ones home in the cold months of winter can cost a fair packet. Gas and electricity are very expensive today, with no signs of prices coming down. Clever people are switching to heating oil as a fuel though. Heating oil suppliers can ensure everybody’s tanks remain full. Oil suppliers are prevelant throughout the UK, and will supply, for instance heating oil Tiverton.
